| About | ||
| I’ve been designing all of my life, from school play costumes to my most recent venture into lingerie. I graduated from Parsons' Design and Management program with a BBA in May ‘07 leaving me with an excellent handle on Illustrator and Photoshop, a business management degree, and knowledge of the croquis. Despite this wide educational array my most valuable training has come from my own entrepreneurial venture. In 2003 I began Tease Intimates (www.teaseintimates.com), a brand dedicated to providing cute and comfy lingerie for young women. For almost five years I struggled to keep Tease alive by designing, managing production, marketing and sales . . . and it almost worked. Using grants from Fleet’s Entrepreneur Program and the Trickle-Up Women’s Business fund, I moved production from Manhattan to Canada, and then to India and China. Tease grew from a one product line (the High Rise Panty), to a full range of bras, panties, and sleepwear. I showed at the Fame Trade Show at the Javits Center, and have been recognized numerous times in Body Magazine, Teeze Magazine, the Tobe Report, and many other local papers and blogs. Tease products have been sold internationally, and I was very close to a Trunk show with Bloomingdales. In August ‘07 I produced the Tease Intimates fashion show with accompanying designers.
Unfortunately when you’re a small company one wrong order can really cause problems . . . and that’s exactly what happened to Tease Intimates. During this time I was also working on small design projects. Graphically I’ve designed websites, logos, and illustrations. However my favorite projects are producing photoshoots. All fashion photos in my Art Direction portfolio were styled, cast, and “directed” by me. I chose the locations, themes, models, makeup, hair, accessories, and time manage the day to come out with the best shoot possible within budget. While
I am no longer creating intimates for my own brand, Tease has given me
a jump start into the design world and real business experience, which
can't be learned in a school, and I am confident it will lead me to new
and better things. |
